It's fair to say that the news of Chris Coleman becoming the favourite to be appointed as the next Republic of Ireland manager has been met by a largely negative reaction among the team's supporters.
The Welshman is someone who has been lingering in the background throughout the FAI's process of searching for a new head coach, although he was never really considered as a strong candidate for the role. However, it was revealed last night that Lee Carsley's reluctance to take the job has left Coleman in the driving seat.
That development has not gone down very well. Irish fans have been quick to question the potential appointment, pointing out his recent managerial track record that includes questionable spells at Sunderland, Hebei Fortune, and Atromitos.
Of course, he did lead Wales to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, an achievement that has likely attracted the FAI to him in the first place.
However, not all of his former players have been convinced by Chris Coleman during their time working together.

Aiden McGeady once gave scathing take on Chris Coleman
While some Ireland supporters may be reasonably unfamiliar with Chris Coleman, those who watched the Netflix documentary series Sunderland 'Til I Die will be have had more of an insight into his character.
His brief time at the Stadium of Light was captured by the Netflix cameras. The case was an absolute basket case at the time, although it's fair to say that the 53-year old did not exactly impress. That includes those among the playing squad.
On one episode of Sunderland 'Til I Die, former Ireland winger Aiden McGeady gave a pretty damning summary of Coleman's approach in the dressing room.
If a player keeps making the same mistake, show them the mistake they are making.
I've had managers before who come in and go crazy. He just kind of comes in and it's, 'We could have done this better, right, sound, move on'. It's just kind of an acceptance of, 'That's OK'.
You come into training a couple of days later and everyone is laughing and joking and we've just been beaten 3-0 at home...
The instructions that he gave the wingers were to stay high and wide. I'd never played in a 4-3-3 before so I was a bit unsure of what to do when I didn't have the ball.
We have no chance of winning a game with that system - almost impossible to win it.
Hardly a ringing endorsement.
Chris Coleman was sacked by Sunderland in April of 2018, with the club relegated from the Championship at the end of that season.
If he does get the Ireland job, you would be hoping that we see more of the Wales Coleman than the one that rocked up to the Stadium of Light.
