Pere Guardiola has opened up about Luis Suarez' failed Arsenal switch and has revealed that the proposed move produced some of the most uncomfortable moments of the pair's relationship. The player was the subject of an audacious £40 million plus £1 bid from Arsenal in an effort to activate a release clause in his contract.
The bid was unsuccessful but some of the hurt still remains as Guardiola explains
This was my most uncomfortable time with Luis. Especially for me and our relationship. Because of the confusion, because of what we’d already agreed with the club, because situations change and force you to do things that make you uncomfortable.
Guardiola also reveals how Suarez being made train apart from the team as the transfer process dragged on was also a point of tension for the Uruguayan.
It was complicated, and Luis had to train separately from the team. Everything was played out in the press.
