After Just Six Months In England, Chris Forrester Is Already Being Linked With A Premier League Move

An interesting transfer rumour has popped up from the twitter account of Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony after he replied to a fan's question about Everton scouts watching Peterborough United players.

It had been believed that Everton sent scouts to watch Peterborough United in recent weeks, which Everton fan-forum nsno.co.uk reckon are 22 year old defender Jack Baldwin, and Chris Forrester, who made the move from St.Patrick's Athletic to Peterborough back in August, and MacAnthony confirmed on twitter that they had indeed been present at recent matches, and had even had some discussions about potential signings.

Forrester has been an ever-present in the Posh side so far this season, chipping in with 2 goals in 20 appearances, so hopefully those scouts liked what they saw from the young Irishman and wish to continue the tradition of Irish players at the club in recent times.
We've heard how his manager was adamant that he is a dead ringer for Michael Carrick after a few impressive showings early on, as he said this back in October:

There's so much Michael Carrick in him it's scary.

You look at the likes of Carrick, an intelligent player, reads the game brilliantly well, owns, keeps and passes the ball in the right way - he's got so many of the characteristics.

Could you see him being even better? He probably gets more goals than Carrick - he's a great player in the making.

It would be great for Irish football to have another player move to the Premier League, especially in Forrester's position, but we can't get carried away just yet. A deal this transfer window is highly unlikely, so hopefully he enjoys more success in the second half of the season with Peterbrough, which will no doubt bring more interest, but it's good to see former League Of Ireland players being linked with these types of moves.
