Alisson's place is safe enough. Liverpool have been eliminated from the Champions League, falling to an extra time defeat to Atletico Madrid.

It was a game the home side really should have wrapped up in normal time, but they were only able to beat Jan Oblak once in the 90 minutes as the tie went to extra time.

Roberto Firmino would give them an all important aggregate lead at the start of extra time, but then it became the Adrian show.

The Spaniard, who was deputising for the injured Alisson Becker on the night, handed the visitors an unlikely equaliser. His pass from the back fell straight to Joao Felix, who played through Llorente. It was an excellent finish, but Adrian was certainly at fault.

It got worse a few moments later.

Llorente was once again the scorer, with another good finish. However, you get the sense that Adrian should have done better.

Keith Andrews said Alisson would save it in commentary, and you probably wouldn't argue with him.

Liverpool pushed hard for the two goals they needed in the second period of extra time, but ultimately it wasn't enough. Alvaro Morata scored late on to really rub salt in the wounds and Liverpool crash out at the last 16 stage.

After a goalkeeper cost them in the final in 2018, Adrian did the same tonight. Liverpool supporters will be praying that they never have to play another Champions League game without Alisson.
