Adnan Januzaj, future star of 'Where Are They Now?' articles as he failed to live up to the promise of his outstanding debut season at Old Trafford, is now a member of the Real Sociedad squad as they decided to offer him a crack at La Liga.
While he waits for his debut - The Belgian was not a part of the squad that defeated Celta Vigo 3-2 in their opening game last weekend - he has taken time out to give an interview to Spanish publication AS, where he outlined his reasons for leaving English football, and why he thinks things will be different this time around.
Januzaj believes that the more technical focus in Spanish football will be great for his game, and he is hoping to find himself on the scoresheet with regularity this season.
When that first goal comes, he's already decided he will dedicate it to Louis Van Gaal, a man he clearly feels hindered his career.
- What part of blame did Louis Van Gaal take in your failure to succeed in Manchester?
I do not want to talk about him, because everyone knows there were difficulties with him. We did not have the best relationship, everyone knows. It was not easy, it's very frustrating and difficult when you find something like that.
-And Mourinho?
Nothing bad to say about him. As a coach I have no criticism, from the beginning it was very fair.
-If you score a goal, who will you dedicate it to?
Van Gaal. I want to score and dedicate it to him.
He doesn't want to talk to him, but he's waiting to dedicate his first goal to him? That's an odd one.
Van Gaal played Januzaj up front for the most part but very rarely gave him a run of games in the team, still, the Dutchman was not to blame for Januzaj thinking he would stroll into the Borussia Dortmund team, where instead he was handed a reality check that he is yet to recover from.
It looked as though Moyes was the man to rejuvenate him at Sunderland, but that too was a disaster as Januzaj's lethargic attitude offered little to a team plummeting towards the Championship.
He is right in that the style of football in Spain suits his skillset, but Sociedad looked exciting in attack last weekend so he will have to work hard if he wants to feature regularly.
Either way, it's going to be interesting seeing how he gets on.
