James Collins, Cyrus Christie and Kieran O'Hara have all been called up to the Ireland squad for the games against Switzerland and Bulgaria. They replace the injured trio of Seani Maguire, Matt Doherty and Keiren Westwood.
Conspicuous by his absence from the original 25-man squad named last week was Shane Long and that continues with the selection Collins ahead of him.
Long came off the bench to play half an hour in Southampton's 1-1 draw with Man Utd at the weekend - it was his first appearance in the league this season.
Luton striker Collins has scored three times in the Championship this season.
Crystal Palace midfielder James McCarthy is also out of the games with manager Mick McCarthy saying: "I have spoken at length to James. He has recently moved to Crystal Palace and is only back playing.
"James is completely free of injury but the intensity of the Switzerland game was always going to be too much for James and we discussed that.
"Like James, Keiren Westwood will work away now at his club and we will see how they are before we go to Georgia and Switzerland next month."
Ireland play Switzerland in a Euro 2020 qualifier on September 5th and then a friendly against Bulgaria on September 10th. Both games are being held at the Aviva Stadium.
The now 24-man Ireland squad is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Darren Randolph (Middlesbrough), Mark Travers (Bournemouth), Kieran O'Hara (Burton Albion - on loan from Manchester United)
Defenders: Seamus Coleman (Everton), Cyrus Christie (Fulham), Shane Duffy (Brighton & Hove Albion), Richard Keogh (Derby County), John Egan (Sheffield United), Kevin Long (Burnley), Enda Stevens (Sheffield United)
Midfielders: Alan Judge (Ipswich Town), Callum O’Dowda (Bristol City), Alan Browne (Preston North End), Jack Byrne (Shamrock Rovers), Jeff Hendrick (Burnley), Conor Hourihane (Aston Villa), Glenn Whelan (Hearts), Josh Cullen (Charlton Athletic - on loan from West Ham United), James McClean (Stoke City), Ronan Curtis (Portsmouth)
