Adam Lallana is reportedly on the verge of joining Brighton as a free agent.
According to the Independent Brighton are in pole position to sign the Champions League winner as a free agent from Liverpool. Brighton are supposedly offering him a contract which would see him become a leader of the club, and help further their tactical development.
Liverpool decided not to renew the 32-year-old's contract which expires this season after six years at the club. The midfielder signed for the Reds in 2014 in £25million transfer from Southampton. Lallana, would be joining the likes of Aaron Connolly and Shane Duffy on the south coast should the move go through.
The English midfielder would be a good purchase for Graham Potter's side who currently sit 16th in the Premier League table. Not only for his quality and experience but also for his leadership and mentality.
In his farewell interview released yesterday, Lallana spoke about how he was looking forward to a new challenge and how he was hoping to help instil a mentality similar to that of the current Liverpool squad saying:
When I came here I was the captain of Southampton. But I leave here now with so much more leadership qualities and experience than what I came here [with].
That’s partly down to how much I’ve learned under Jürgen - but not just Jürgen, how much I’ve learned because of my fellow teammates and how professional they are and how they keep pushing you to learn and to be better, he said
Everyone can always be better and we are so lucky that we’ve got no egos in our squad. That’s what I’m kind of looking forward to taking into my next challenge wherever that is; try and install a mentality in the group to what is similar to what we’ve got at the moment at Liverpool, he added
The England international is not expected to be in Liverpool squad for their final match of the season against Newcastle.
