The caprice of the international break have struck Liverpool again: Adam Lallana has been ruled out for a month with a thigh injury sustained while away with England on international duty. Liverpool fans became used to their getting Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge back into something approaching working order before both were struck down by injury on international breaks, and now that role belongs to Lallana: he missed weeks of action for Liverpool in December following an injury sustained in England's November friendly with Spain, and now the curse has struck again.
Lallana picked up a thigh injury while away with England, and was absent from Liverpool's training ground at Melwood this afternoon.

He is now expected to miss the next month of action, and will be absent for a critical run of fixtures in Liverpool's quest to qualify for next season's Champions League, beginning with Saturday's Merseyside Derby at Anfield. He is also likely to miss a home tie with Bournemouth the following Wednesday, the trip to Stoke on Saturday week, along with subsequent games with West Brom and Crystal Palace.
His loss will be offset somewhat by the return of captain Jordan Henderson, who has stepped up his recovery from a foot injury in a bid to be fit for this weekend's derby. Also, Roberto Firmino came through Liverpool training despite concerns over his fitness following his appearances for Brazil. Liverpool chartered a jet so as to get he and Phillippe Coutinho back to Melwood as early as possible ahead of the weekend's derby.
