Republic of Ireland international Adam Idah received a rapturous welcome to Celtic Park as he made his first appearance in the famous green and white hoops of Celtic since signing a new contract with the club.

Idah who spent the latter part of last season on loan at Celtic, signed a five-year contract with the club this week which saw his move from Norwich to Glasgow made permanent.

During his loan spell at the Scottish giants, Idah quickly established himself as a fan favourite, netting eight goals in just fifteen appearances and famously scoring the winning goal in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers.

While the Corkonian had to be content with a seat on the bench for today's 3-1 win over Hibs in the Scottish League Cup, the rapturous welcome he received coming off the bench made it all the worthwhile.

If there were any questions about how Idah would be received at Parkhead, the Celtic faithful made it abundantly clear that he was one of them today.

When just shy of the hour mark the 23-year-old Irishman appeared off the bench for his second Celtic debut, Parkhead was lifted off its foundations as the Celtic fans offered him a fantastic standing ovation.

While Idah may not have been on the scoresheet this afternoon, the game itself was a resounding success for Brendan Rogers's men who stormed to a 3-1 win.

It was Daizen Maeda who struck the net first giving Celtic a 1-0 lead after just four minutes. He then doubled their lead just eleven minutes later when he slotted home a second goal before the clock had hit sixteen minutes.

While Hibernian got a goal of their own before the break, it did little to stop Celtic's momentum with Nicolas Kuhn delivering the decisive third goal in the 56th minute - just moments before Adam Idah entered the pitch.
