Adam Idah has completed his permanent move to Celtic after a summer back-and-forth between the Bhoys and Norwich City.

Idah has signed a five-year deal with the Scottish champions after a successful loan spell last season saw him score several crucial goals during the run-in of the title race.

The highlight of Idah's loan spell in Glasgow was undoubtedly his injury-time winner against bitter rivals Rangers in May's Scottish Cup final, and fans of the Hoops will hope that the best is yet to come from the Corkman.

Idah departs Norwich seven years after arriving as an academy prospect from College Corinthians Cork. Reports on Thursday suggest that his move to Celtic could earn his childhood club a very nice payday.

Adam Idah's permanent Celtic move will net College Corinthians Cork a major sum

John Fallon of the Irish Examiner reported on Thursday afternoon that a sell-on clause negotiated between College Corinthians and Norwich City is set to see the Cork club benefit significantly from Adam Idah's move to Celtic.

According to the report, College Corinthians are set to earn a payday of €807,000 thanks to the major fee paid by Celtic for the Ireland striker's services.

College Corinthians are based just outside of Cork city centre, near Douglas on the south side of the Lee. Idah joined the club at the age of just six years old and is one of several professional footballers to have learned the trade at the club. Irish international Megan Connolly also played for College Corinthians until the age of 18.

The club has a proud history of developing underage boys' and girls' teams, with the girls' football operations enjoying a major boom off the back of the Ireland WNT's success. Last month, we caught up with coaches involved in the club who told us about the steady growth they have experienced in recent years.

Idah is one of a contingent of Cork natives in the Irish men's squad, alongside regulars Caoimhín Kelleher, Chiedozie Ogbene, and John Egan.

Irish fans will hope that his permanent move to Celtic inspires him to kick on when pulling on the green shirt at international level. Perhaps more importantly, the fee involved in his transfer will be a massive boost to the grassroots club that gave him his start in football.
