Report: Aaron Connolly Could Fall On Feet With Impressive Free Agent Move

As we near the end of the summer transfer window, there has been little indication as to where Aaron Connolly will be playing his football this season.

The Galway man is currently a free agent, having left Hull City at the end of the last season after they opted not to renew his contract. There has been precious little in the way of rumours about his future since then.

While Connolly has had an up and down few years, the lack of movement on his future has been rather strange.

The Irishman was in impressive form for Hull during the first half of last season, scoring eight goals in the Championship before the turn of the year. He would would struggle after that point due to injuries and a lack of form, but you would have imagined that he would have quite a few suitors this summer.

However, there are rumours that the forward could be about to land on his feet with an ideal move.

Aaron Connolly Could Fall On Feet With Impressive Free Agent Move

Football Scotland are reporting that Celtic are considering a move for Aaron Connolly this summer, with the club interesting in signing him on a free transfer.

Connolly has been linked with a move to Glasgow on occasion in the past, although it would never come to fruition.

Celtic are likely to be in the market for more signings over the remainder of the transfer window. Matt O'Riley looks set to join Brighton in a big money move, while Kyogo Furuhashi has also been linked with a shock switch to Manchester City. If both of those players move on, Brendan Rodgers' squad will need further reinforcements.

Of course, with Aaron Connolly being a free agent, that deal would not need to be wrapped up before the end of the transfer window. Indeed, there might be a few clubs who see the 24-year old as an option that they could pursue after the end of the window should they fail to sign other targets.

A move to Celtic would certainly be an ideal one for the striker. Adam Idah looked rejuvenated after joining the club on loan last season, going on to sign on a permanent basis this summer.

That is something his Ireland teammate could look to replicate. While it remains to be seen how serious the Celtic interest is, Connolly should jump at it if the opportunity presents itself.
