While this summer is set to be one of the most ridiculous ever in terms of player transfers, it's also going to be a bit of a wild ride for fans of clubs with uncertainty surrounding their manager, and the unemployed managers that will be linked to them until the cows come home.
Brendan Rodgers is one of those managers, as the guy appears quite high in the betting odds for pretty much every vacant manager's position in the UK, but he had been earmarked as a candidate for Celtic in particular.
The other club that are believed to be heavily interested in Rodgers are Swansea City, who apparently want to re-hire him rather than sticking with Francesco Guidolin. Perhaps jumping the gun, Wales Online have claimed that Celtic are planning an "11th hour bid" to swipe Rodgers from under the noses of the Welsh side.
We must admit it seems little more than an attempt to spark discussion among their Swansea supporting readers, as the story has very little to go on:
Scottish giants Celtic could scupper Swansea City's plan to bring Brendan Rodgers back to the Liberty Stadium this summer.
The Swans have placed Rodgers at number one on their wish-list amid reports a deal has already been done, with Francesco Guidolin's future at the club the subject of intense speculation.
But according to fresh reports north of the border, Celtic are also keen on Rodgers as they seek a successor to the outgoing Ronny Delia.
In fact, the only quotes that are featured are those of former Celtic player and Republic of Ireland international Darren O'Dea, who now plays for Dundee.
O'Dea was for some reason asked if Rodgers would be a hit at Celtic, and we have to take our hat off to him for managing to use the holy grail of Brendan Rodgers' cliches in his comment:
As a coach Brendan is meticulous. He ticks a lot of the boxes Celtic need.
He’s got the character to do it and likes to play a style of football I think would also suit Celtic.
He’s not a disciplinarian but has certainly got a big enough character. He’s gone on and managed a massive club in Liverpool which would be similar to Celtic in terms of the scrutiny he’d be under.
He's got the character. Great character.
To be fair, O'Dea makes a good point regarding the level of expectation. It certainly is an interesting idea and we'll be keeping an eye out for any actual update in the story.
Darren actually spotted our story and pointed out that he was asked about Rodgers having played under him at Reading, so we are happy to see him taking on a role as essentially the Guilleme Balague of Scottish football:
@ballsdotie ??... Should I seek some sort of commission?

To be fair, he's not bad at it:
@ballsdotie no

How do you feel, Celtic fans? Would you like Rodgers as the new boss at Park Head?
