There was a time when Barcelona did not even have a sponsor on their shirt. Four years ago, they announced that for the first time in their history that a sponsor would pay to have its name appear on their shirt when they reached a deal with the Qatar Foundation. Previous to that, UNICEF's was name emblazoned on the jersey.
Spanish paper Sport reports another first for the club today. Their new home shirt will apparently feature horizontal stripes. They say that Nike have been the driving force behind the change as "sales are down when the design is very similar to the previous year".
They also say that the new design has been approved by club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.
It just seems 40 shades of wrong.
