Who is the best footballer in the World?
It's a question that is brought up constantly, and, well... Answered constantly too. Some say Messi, others say Ronaldo, some former goalkeepers say Manuel Neuer, but really it's a battle between the two megastars for almost everyone.
We say "almost" everyone, because there are people on this Earth like Eric Cantona.
Speaking from Shanghai ahead of the Laureus Sports Awards gala, the former Manchester United frontman/kung fu master gave his stunningly hipster opinion on who he thinks is the best player in the World:
For me, the best player in the world is Javier Pastore. I watched two PSG games just to see him play. For me, he is the most creative player at the moment. Pastore is full of surprises. I love this kind of player.
So there you have it. He was probably wearing glasses without frames when he said it and all. Messi? Nah mate, overrated, it's all about Pastore.
For those keeping score at home, Pastore has 3 goals in 27 games for PSG this season. Comparing that to Messi's 45 goals in 44 games, or Ballon D'Or winner Ronaldo's 49 goals in 43 games, you begin to see just how ridiculous it is to call Javier Pastore the best player in the World.
Never change, Eric.
