When a player that is still playing the game fills you with nostalgia, then it's a sign that you're getting old.
So are they, but at least they're still doing what the do best, and we've decided to give a shout out to some of our former favourites that have kept them selves in shape (for the most part) and have adapted their game to stick around with the young guns.
Some of these guys have teammates that weren't born when they made their pro debut. Hats off to the old folks.
Roque Santa Cruz
Former Blackburn legend and Man City flop Roque Santa Cruz is still going strong for Malaga, and started just last week against FC Barcelona.
Always a clinical finisher, he's managed to keep in good shape and has scored once since his return to the Spanish club on loan from Mexican side Cruz Azul.
Steed Malbranque
STEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!
Fulham cult hero Steed Malbranque is still an important player in the middle for Lyon. Never gifted with great pace, he now sits in front of a back four and looks to spring counters with his passing, although he has been injured since just before Christmas.
Kevin Kuranyi
With no goals in 11 appareances for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga this season, it may not be for long, but Kevin Kuranyi is still a top flight footballer.
33 years of age is younger than we had thought, but the facial-hair-sporting striker has been around for what feels like an eternity.
Valeron
At a staggering 40 years of age, Valeron is still an important player for Las Palmas in La Liga.
He's played 90 minutes in their last two games, thanks to his excellent fitness, and he always was such a classy player in those Deportivo teams of the early 2000s.
Emre Belozoglu
Still going strong for Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, the former Newcastle midfielder plays just like he did in his pomp.
A good passer who loved a borderline red card challenge, Emre was a fan favourite with The Toon until he stopped giving a shit altogether and left for Fenerbache.
Massimo Maccarrone
Not only is Middlesbrough legend Maccarone still playing, but he has 6 goals in his last 6 games for Empoli in Serie A at the age of 36.
His bright bald head is iconic on Teeside, as he was a central figures in Boro's brilliant UEFA Cup run. He's also the type of guy that raises a smile when you see him on 'Premier League Years'.
Rock on, Massimo.
Sébastien Squillaci
A player that Arsenal fans may have erased from their memory, Squillaci looked more like a cast member from 'The Adams Family' than a footballer during his time in London.
Still, he's playing for Bastia in Ligue 1, and he's playing 90 minutes every week, so fair play to him.
