7 Ireland Players That Still Need To Find Transfer Moves Summer

With the summer transfer window now in full swing, quite a few Ireland players have made notable moves over the last few weeks.

Deals involving Nathan Collins, Dara O'Shea, and Chiedozie Ogbene are among the most eye-catching to go through thus far. In saying that, there are still quite a few Irish footballers that should look to switch clubs before the end of the window.

Some of them need to move on in order to play consistent football, while others will be hoping to make their way up the ladder having outgrown their current sides.

With that in mind, here are a few Ireland players to keep an eye on in the weeks ahead.

Ireland players that need to switch clubs this summer

Andrew Omobamidele (Norwich City)

This would certainly be the most expensive deal on this list. Andrew Omobamidele has been heavily linked with a move away from Norwich City this summer, with the likes of AC Milan and Crystal Palace said to be interested in his services.

He would not come cheap, with the club having already rejected an offer of around £20million for his services back in January. It would take an offer in excess of that to get a deal done in the weeks ahead.

If the opportunity is there to move to the Premier League or another top European club, Omobamidele has to take it. Despite struggling with injuries over the last couple of seasons, he seems ready to take the next step in his career.

Gavin Kilkenny (Bournemouth)

The momentum that Gavin Kilkenny built up at Bournemouth early in the 2021/22 season has now been long lost, with the midfielder well down the pecking order at the club. He had a failed loan spell at Stoke City in the first half of the last campaign, then going on to make just eight League One appearances at Charlton after the turn of the year.

Now 23-years old, he needs to be playing on a consistent basis during the coming season. That will not come at Bournemouth, with the player needing to choose his next move carefully if he is to make the most of his undoubted potential.

Troy Parrott (Spurs)

Troy Parrott will not feature at Spurs this season, that much seems clear. What remains to be seen is whether he leaves the club on a permanent or temporary basis.

The Dubliner has never really got going during his various loan spells over the last few years. Some of that was down to injuries, other times a lack of form. In any case, he needs to start to performing on a consistent basis at some point soon if he is to take his game to the next level.

He has the talent to do so.

Caoimhín Kelleher (Liverpool)

Caoimhín Kelleher's list of potential destinations has severely shrunk over the course of the summer. There has been little indication of a pending move away from Anfield, with a number of interested suitors having already secured alternative options in recent times.

Wolves were the club most recently linked and it would be an excellent move. The player has reportedly made it clear that he wants to leave Merseyside and it is time for him to play on a consistent basis.

Jeff Hendrick (Newcastle United)

It is clear that Jeff Hendrick is not part of Eddie Howe's plans at Newcastle, although it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football next season. His loan spell at Reading last time out was a relatively successful one, even if it did end in relegation from the Championship.

Another move to the second tier seems the most likely option at this point.

Conor Coventry (West Ham United)

Conor Coventry's future at club level has been in limbo for some time. The midfielder certainly has not played as much football as he should have at this point in his career, mixing long spells on the bench at West Ham with some rather mixed loan spells.

That did change in the second half of last season, where he made 16 Championship starts at Rotherham United after joining on loan in January. Now 23-years old and with one season remaining on his contract, he needs to sort out his long-term future sooner rather than later.

Andrew Moran (Brighton & Hove Albion)

There is no doubt that Andrew Moran is at the perfect club to develop in Brighton. They have shown on numerous occasions in recent season that they are fantastic at bringing through young talents, with Evan Ferguson the latest example.

Moran will have a part to play at the club at some point in the future, although next season could come too soon for him. He was not part of their pre-season tour to America, suggesting that a loan move is on the horizon.

It has previously been said that numerous Championship clubs are keen to sign the 19-year old for the upcoming campaign. Should he make an immediate impact, you can expect him to quickly be brought into the Ireland fold at senior level.
