David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. This has been recognised by his nomination for PFA player of the year, along with the likes of Eden Hazard and Harry Kane, which was announced earlier today.
De Gea then took to twitter to gives thanks, and used a back handed compliment which was an absolutely hilarious jibe at his Manchester United team-mates, who up until recent successes were struggling to protect him.
An honour to be nominated for the @PFA awards Many thanks to all my teammates for making it possible #PFAawards pic.twitter.com/fwsCx0yJ2Y

Brilliant. In case you missed it, his teammates failing to protect him gave him the chance to be seen as one of the six best players in the league. We hate it when people explain jokes too.
There is of course the possibility that this was unintentional, but we're giving Dave the credit here.
If they were giving out PFA awards for tweets, you'd have to have this one on the shortlist.
