Sean St Ledger has left Ipswich Town without making a single appearance for the club since joining in November.
The Irish central defender has not been able to impress Mick McCarthy enough to extend his deal, with Mick suggesting that he would rather put his faith in younger players.
Speaking about St Ledger's release, McCarthy said:
I have got young Matt Clarke who is excellent and I would not stand in his way by having someone who I don’t think is going to do any better than him. I would play Matt.
I also have Elliott Hewitt out at Colchester with a 24-hour recall so I am not going to put a block on their progression by taking someone in.
It will be interesting to see if another Championship club comes in for St Ledger in the coming weeks.
