The Lionel Messi love-in reached new heights last week when Barcelona knocked Manchester City out at the last 16 stage of the Champions League, despite the best efforts of England goalkeeper Joe Hart.

It seemed as though every current and former professional footballer with a twitter account was heaping praise on the diminutive Argentinian genius, so when former Premier League goalkeeper (and current player manager of Kerala Blasters FC in India, by the way) David James had a chance to interview Hart, the topic of conversation could only have started in one place.

When asked how saving Messi's penalty made him feel, Hart explained that the Barca icon makes the Man City players talk about him in a way they do for very few other opponents.

When we play him, you notice what a player he is. There's not many situations where you come off the pitch and we talk like children. We're not in awe of him, but you've just got to be honest.

Hart then went on to describe the way Messi effects games with a superb use of onomatopoeia, which you can see in the video below:

They're not in awe of him, but they're pretty much in awe of him. Who can blame them?
