2014 wasn't a fantastic year for the sports genre. In case you missed our grading of the 2014 sports films, there was more bad than good.
But a new year brings a fresh start, and straight away we are looking ahead to some sports movies that we can enjoy throughout the new year.
Having trawled IMDB and checked a few release dates, we can now offer you 5 sports movies to look forward to in 2015.
Manny
The first sports movie of 2015 will be the documentary on the life of Manny Pacquiao, and it looks absolutely brilliant. We've been waiting a while for this one, so lets hope it lives up to expectations. It is set to be made available at the end of January.
McFarland, USA
We're familiar with the no-hopers-turn-champions story, but not in cross-country. Kevin Costner stars as a PE teacher turned running coach in the middle of nowhere, and hopes to turn their fortunes around. It looks like a good watch and it's out February.
Underdogs (The Unbeatables)
Now THIS is something we can't wait to see. An animated film with clearly hilarious football stereotypes? Were do we sign up. This was announced around World Cup time 2014 so expect a summer release.
Pele
Jeff Zimbalist is in line to direct the second big sporting life documentary of 2015, as we learn all about the most famous player ever to play the game. It's been a while coming, hopefully it can meet and exceed expectations.
Southpaw
We don't know much about this boxing film other than it stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams, and of course there is the teased image of Gyllenhaal looking absolutely ripped as you can see above. His extreme body transformation has got people talking about this film, hopefully we see it this year and hopefully it's not just an advert for P90X.
