Michael Owen has languished on the bench for so long that it is easy to forget that at one time, albiet a very long time ago, he was one of the best strikers in the world. There will probably be a lot of snark and negativity towards Owen on social media today so we have put together a retrospective that will look back on the best moments from his career. Here they are in no particular order and the recurring theme is, that a lot of these moments happened before 2004.

This goal was the begining of Owen's five or six year period as an elite stiker. Crazy to think that this happened almost 15 years ago now.

The penalty he won against Argentina at the 2002 World Cup

The dive that won his side that grudge match vs Argentina in 2002 was for better or worse, one of his most important moments. As an added bonus we have included the heinous dive that somehow won a penalty in the same fixture at the previous tournament.
