Jurgen Klopp is one of those managerial appointments that has everybody talking.
The charismatic German had the press in stitches in his first press conference, and he wasn't even trying to be funny. There's an enigmatic air surrounding Klopp, as while almost all football fans are more than familiar with him, only genuine fans of the Bundesliga will know what he is like week-in, week-out, in terms of dealing with the press and making changes to his teams.
We know he's great in front of the camera, but he's also a terrific man-manager, and Liverpool fans are rightly excited with the decision to hand the reigns to a man who turned Borussia Dortmund into the best team in Germany before Bayern went all FIFA career mode on the league.
Klopp has a unique style of management that focuses on work-rate and pace. He loves his players to do their duty defensively but be willing to spring into an attack at the flip of a switch, so having looked at some of his previous teams, and the success he has had in terms of signings, here are five players who look destined to thrive in the new system.
Danny Ings
Ings has been showing the Liverpool fans why the club decided to sign him in recent weeks, with some good performances, some goals, and a desire to work hard that the club's fans love to see. Under Klopp, you can expect Ings to be played wide, and while that may not be his best position right now, Klopp is the man to turn him into a threat alongside a more traditional striker.
Tracking back at pace is Ings' key trait that will endear him to Klopp.
Jon Flanagan
We heard during the week about how highly legendary full-back Cafu rates Flanagan, but Klopp, who has experience managing injury riddled players back to form in the past, will get to mold Flanagan into his type of defender. If Flanagan can put his injuries behind him, Klopp can make him a top defender, and he will love the young scouser's versatility.
Roberto Firmino
Nobody will have been more excited in the Liverpool camp to see the appointment of Klopp than Roberto Firmino. Having watched Brendan Rodgers struggle to find a role for him and his many talents in the team, he will now be playing for a manager who knows exactly what he can offer, and perhaps vitally, can communicate with him in German. Expect to see Firmino really show what he can do with "The Normal One" in charge.
Emre Can
Another player with a Bundesliga past, and another player delighted to see Klopp come through the door at Anfield, and another player who Rodger's wasn't quite sure how to use, Emre Can is a player that can flourish in the new system. It's highly possible that Can will be utilised as a ball-playing centre back, or as one of two holding midfielders, but he will be heavily involved for sure.
Adam Lallana
Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of central attacking midfielders. The formation he used at Dortmund relied heavily on a skillful player to operate in the hole behind a central striker, and Lallana's best position is without a doubt the one we saw Shinji Kagawa and Mario Götze occupy at the Westfalenstadion. He'll face competition from Firmino, but Lallana is the type of player Klopp has proven he can get the best out of.
