With speculation surrounding the Premier League's biggest clubs in the January transfer window, where most teams are reluctant to dip their toe into the market unless it is out of desperation, we're seeing many familiar names linked to familiar destinations.
We're hearing about Arsenal moving for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Liverpool are sniffing around Neven Subotic, and Manchester United are apparently talking to Felipe Anderson's agent, but nobody is being linked with a number of players who have the potential to command an eye-watering fee in a number of years.
In conjunction with Scout Nation, the best YouTube channels for detailed breakdowns on the best young players in the game today, we've come up with suggestions for five of the biggest Premier League teams to potentially make a big splash in the market.
YouTube highlights videos have a reputation for making chumps look like world beaters, but the folks at Scout Nation take suggestions from their subscribers on who to focus on, and produce a great insight into how these guys are performing.
Arsenal - Ruben Neves
Having already captained Porto in the Champions League at just 18 years of age, defensive midfielder Ruben Neves is seen by many as the future of the Portuguese national team.
Someone who already plays well beyond his years, Neves has been earning rave reviews at the top level of European football, and will no doubt be on the radar of other Champions League clubs, but were Arsenal to swoop now they would be adding depth to a position that is crying out for more bodies, and a superstar in the near future.
Tottenham Hotspur - Jonathan Calleri
One of the most exciting talents in Argentina is Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Callieri.
Spurs are currently in a title race and have shown a lot of growth under Mauricio Pochettino, but were Harry Kane to get injured, you would have to think that any chances of a title would end, such is their lightness in numbers up front.
While some may be reluctant to see another young player move to White Hart Lane, Calleri has all the tools to become a top striker in Europe.
Manchester United - Inaki Williams
The dread of returning to negotiate with the stingy board members of Athletic Bilbao should be overcome to secure one of the most exciting players in the world right now.
Williams is a player who many expect to go from strength to strength, and has been turning heads with his displays in La Liga this season. Manchester United badly need a right winger, as Juan Mata has proven ineffective having been pushed out to the wing in recent times, and his pace and willingness to beat a player would be invaluable to Louis Van Gaal's current side.
He would cost a bomb, but much like Anthony Martial, he would offer the fans some genuine excitement for the future.
Liverpool - Marc-Andre Ter Stegen
By far the most familiar name on this list, Ter Stegen has proven his ability on the highest stage having won a Champions League with Barcelona.
However, the German shot-stopper is the cup-keeper at Camp Nou, with Claudio Bravo being preferred for league matches, so perhaps it's time to go and become a number one elsewhere. This would be an ambitious signing for Liverpool, and the Klopp factor would be the main reason that Ter Stegen could be convinced, but a keeper will need to be signed sometime soon considering the inconsistency of Simon Mignolet.
Marc-Andre is not everybody's cup of tea, but if he's playing week in week out there's no doubt he will become a star of the position in the coming years.
Manchester City - Jose Luis Gaya
Quite simply, Manchester City's full-backs are old. Alex Kolarov and Gael Clichy don't have a lot of top-level football ahead of them, but someone who does is the highly impressive Jose Gaya.
If Gary Neville were to entertain negotiations with the blue side of Manchester, you get the feeling that he would want to take them to the cleaners, but City would be locking down that left-back spot for years to come were they to sign the rising Spanish star.
