Jordi Alba burst out of defence. The left back played it out to Messi near the sideline. Some close dribbling later and the Argentine popped his head up to spot Ivan Rakitic in space ambling towards Joe Hart's goal.
The Croatian midfielder still had work to do though as he lobbed it over the on rushing Man City keeper.
