Quite a few people were caught on the hop late last night when the news came through that Man United had signed 21-year-old Andy Kellett from Bolton. And the man himself was more surprised than anyone.
Bolton manager, Neil Lennon, told the Guardian that it wasn't until Kellett was told to ring his Dad that he finally came round to the realisation that it would be Man United, and not Plymouth Argyle, where he would be spending the next few months.
He hadn’t got a clue. He was on his way to Plymouth. It took a good five or 10 minutes – he wouldn’t believe us. We told him to ring his father and we’d tell him, and once that happened I think it started to sink in. It’s a great story but now he’s got to knuckle down and learn."
We're not sure we'd have believed him either.
