Sunderland claimed their fifth consecutive Tyne/Wear derby win on Sunday as they defeated bitter rivals Newcastle United 1-0, thanks to an absolute screamer of a volley from Jermaine Defoe.
The strike was so good that Defoe's eyes welled up as he celebrated with the Sunderland fans, and as both teams left the pitch for half-time, Newcastle keeper Tim Krul gave Defoe a smile and a pat on the head for beating him in such stunning fashion.
Many Newcastle fans were critical of Krul showing anything other than complete disdain for Sunderland players, and Jamie Carragher gave his views on why he believed Krul made a mistake.

Is Carragher reading too much into this? Can a professional not congratulate his fellow professional, albeit a local rival, on a moment of brilliance? Lets just be happy they didn't swap shirts at half-time, Twitter would never have been able to recover from the backlash.
