Brendan Rodgers' All Time Premier League XI Has Come Back To Bite Him In The Arse

This week, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers called Steven Gerrard "arguably the best player in the history of the Premier League". Nothing wrong there, just a manager defending his captain against what has been some pretty stern criticism in recent weeks.

The only problem is that in 2012, then Swansea manager, Brendan Rodgers went on MOTD 3 and named his all time Premier League XI. You see where this is going. There was no place for Steven Gerrard who was beat out of the line-up by the Man Utd pairing of Paul Scholes and Roy Keane.

To be fair to him, Rodgers did say "arguably" the best player, presumably he's on the other side of that argument.

Now obviously there's nothing knicker-twist worthy here, but it is interesting to see how managers can change their tune when it comes down to it. You can see him explain his XI from the beginning of this video.
