Tokyo Verdy used to be quite decent back in the years when Gary Lineker and Arsene Wenger set up shop in Japan. Since then however, Verdy have gone down hill quite badly to the extent that they're now also rans in the country's second division.
Well not anymore. They're still not very good but they did throw up this scoreline on Saturday.
At home to FC Gifu, the bottom team in the league, Verdy went in 3-0 down at half time and came back out looking as if they would be unlikely to get back into the game. When you're team is 3-0 down at home with less than ten minutes to go, hope has long gone out the window.
Not for Verdy fans. Goals in the 84th, 88th, 93rd and 96th minutes meant that the fans who had decided to stay in the ground, were given a real treat. Verdy move up to 7th place in the table after seven games and even if they do nothing for the rest of the season, they're the real champions in our eyes.
