Barcelona Could Owe Arsenal €4m For The Most Ridiculous Reason Ever

Barcelona are back in the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since they won it last in 2011, and they will face Italian champions Juventus after Carlos Tevez & Co. denied the world all the feigning injury and trying to get players booked that would have come with a Champions League Final El Classico.

While Barca will no doubt be delighted to be back where they feel they belong, Spanish publication 'Sport' are reporting that if they win the Champions League, they will owe Arsenal approximately €4m for a truly ridiculous reason.

It seem as though the transfer of Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal to Barcelona last season had a clause where Arsenal would be owed an additional payment were Barca to win the Champions League... This is the same Thomas Vermaelen that has missed the entire season through injury.

Vermaelen's transfer is reported to have cost €10m, with a further €5m in performance based add ons, almost €4m of which will be owed should Barcelona beat Juventus, despite Vermaelen playing precisely 0 minutes for the Catalan club since his move.

That is the easiest money that Arsenal will ever make. Actually, they did get £2m from Middlesbrough for Jeremy Aliadiere, so maybe not.
