The Best Midfielder In Premier League History
With Steven Gerrard making his final Anfield appearance as a Liverpool player against Crystal Palace today, Sky Sports News HQ asked if Stevie G was the best midfielder that the Premier League has ever seen.
There have been a lot of contenders to the crown - from past stars like Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit, to current stars like Yaya Toure and Cesc Fabregas with everyone from Frank Lampard and cult hero Tony Yeboah in between. That's not forgetting our Roy.
But the viewers of Sky Sports News HQ had there say, and the winner by quite a margin is...
Paul Scholes!
POLL RESULT: You voted Paul Scholes as the Premier League's greatest ever midfielder. Thanks for taking part! #SSNHQ pic.twitter.com/Mj5noFhHqU

I'm not going to lie, this is a bit of a surprise to me. Not that Scholesy isn't a deserving winner. I vaguely remember Scholes as the under-appreciated midfielder dynamo back in my youth. Sir Alex Ferguson kept trying to replace him bringing in players of the calibre of Kleberson, Juan Sebastian Veron and Eric Djemba Djemba before Scholesy beat them all out.
If you don't agree, here's a highlights package of all of Scholes' wonderfulness, and let us know who is the best midfielder ever to grace the Premier League.
