Even Paul Merson can't believe the words that sometimes spurt from his mouth.

While predicting who would win Saturday's early kick off between Everton and Sunderland, Merson put his own spin on a saying we all know.

I think Everton but if Sunderland won this game this would really...throw the pigeons among the cats.

And Sunderland did indeed put the pigeons among the cats today. They beat Everton 2-0 and are now two points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand on those around them. Though that game is away to Arsenal.
