You get the feeling that John Terry never lets a grudge fully go. He probably has a list. On that hypothetical list for the last two years was Rafa Benitez. The former interim Chelsea manager believed, at the time, that Terry was incapable of playing two games in a week. It seems the 34-year-old took that slight to heart, though it was probably correct two years ago.
Terry, who has played every minute of Chelsea's Premier League campaign so far this season, was interviewed on the pitch after his side clinched the league title with a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Prompted by the Sky Sports reporter's reference, the Chelsea captain stated that he had proved Benitez (though he didn't name him) wrong.
One person said I couldn't play twice in a week. He knows who he is. I not only proved him wrong but everyone wrong. I'm still fighting. I'm still in the side. I'm feeling great.
