App idea: Penalty Shootout Alert. It's simple. All it does is one thing - let you know when there's a penalty shootout being broadcast on a TV channel somewhere.
That app would have been handy this evening for the Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund's DFB Pokal semi-final. The game had finished 1-1 after normal time and extra time. The shootout was seriously entertaining.
In between two identical slips and misses from Philip Lahm and Xabi Alonso, Ilkay Gundogan stuck his penalty perfectly into the top corner. Bayern would go on to miss all four of their penalties including Manuel Neuer hitting the crossbar right at the end. The German keeper also demonstrated wrist strength that would have Cyril Farrell salivating.
