If anyone knows the story about Luis Suarez and his wife Sofia Balbi, you'd know it would take a lot more than her husband biting a few footballers to cause any real trouble at home. We're not ones to get soppy, but they have a rather nice history together.
Anyway, back to the matter at hand. Suarez has long since moved on from that bite on Giorgio Chiellini during the World Cup. Moved to Barcelona and now well and truly at home in one of the best attacking triumvirates the world has ever seen.
But that bite is still there at the back of everyone's mind, including his wife's. Speaking to Canal 10, Balbi discussed the aftermath of the incident in which Suarez almost comically tried to deny to her that anything had happened.
He told me he hadn’t done it. That is what he had in his head and even I began to believe it. But the television and radio spoke only about the bite and after 10 days of us being alone he told me the truth.
On the day of the game I phoned him and asked what he had done. He responded with ‘what?’ The same had happened in England and I insisted: ‘Again?’ He replied: ‘I haven’t done anything. Are you not happy because Uruguay qualified?
