It looking increasingly likely that Wigan are going to suffer the ignominy of relegation to League 1 this year. Last night's 2-0 defeat away to fellow strugglers Millwall left them 7 points from safety with an extra game played. Not good news for James McClean.

The Ireland winger has been in relatively good form for the Latics but it seems unlikely he'll be able to extricate them from the trouble they find themselves in. That doesn't mean he'll go down without a fight though.

Last night, Millwall fans gave McClean the kind of reception usually reserved for a club's most hated rivals. It's fair to say that McClean isn't the most revered individual among some of English football's more nationalistic elements. However, even at that, the abuse that was directed at him last night was said to be very strong.

However, he's never been one to let that get the better of him and he took to Instagram after the defeat to let the Millwall fans know exactly what he thought of their abuse.
