Carlisle are fourth from bottom of League Two, just three points above the drop out of the Football League. Keith Curle is currently the manager and the former Man City player gave a seriously honest interview to BBC Radio Cumbria following his side's 3-1 loss to Accrington Stanley on Monday.
The manager labelled the manner of the goals conceded "an embarrassment", the character of the dressing room as "alarmingly weak" and stated many of the players do not deserve to be professionals.
Asked by the BBC reporter what he could do to lift the mood, Curle paraphrased a conversation which he had just had with his players. The discussion featured the manager telling his players that the squad did not have sufficient "male genitalia".
We just had a conversation in there. The players said 'we've got to play people that have got the male genitalia to go out and play' and I said I don't think that I can do that because I'd only start with five/six players. Because I don't think there are players out there that have got the male genitalia. Now that's the alarming thing. I need to get a reaction out of those players. Those players have been told, basically, that they are soft.
It's not the first time Curle has given such honest answers. Earlier this season he had no problem telling the media about how he wanted one player out of the club and what negotiating tactics he was using.
