Things might be looking up for Leeds United after a harrowing couple of years. With current owner Massimo Cellino banned from running the club due to tax evasion, their financial situation has been dire. So much so that they aren't able to play their best players.
But there could be light on the horizon. Cellino has confirmed that there is a bid in for a club takeover. It looks like energy drink giant Red Bull could be the new owners of the famous Yorkshire club:
There is an offer. I didn’t know about it but I spoke just now with Giampaolo Caboni, one of the directors of Eleonora Sport. He said Red Bull has made an offer for the club. The shareholder will have to think about it. I don’t know what they will do.
Red Bull are expecting a deal to go through in the next two to three weeks, but Cellino wouldn't give away much.
This isn't the first foray into club ownership for Red Bull who already own clubs in New York, Salzburg and Leipzig.
