How much can be drawn from the fact that from the two games that Ireland played against Poland in 2013, only five of the 24 players used over the two games aren't in the current Ireland squad to face Poland?
It does show that it's a settled squad that can grow together as they try to qualify for Euro 2016. Which can only be a good thing.
But what about the five players that aren't in O'Neill's squad this weekend, what has happened to them? Balls.ie has had a look:
The Where Are They Now: Ireland v Poland 2013 Edition
Greg Cunningham
The former Manchester City youngster has fallen off the radar a bit. Since earning his 4th cap at home to Poland, Cunningham has failed to make another international appearance. He was in several squads as Ireland attempted to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, but hasn't been seen since.
He did suffer an injury while playing for Bristol City in 2013, and has been relegated to a back up left back as the club was relegated to League One. He has made 9 starts and 14 substitute appearances in League One this season, and has fallen behind Ward, Clark, Wilson and Brady in the international pecking order.
Jeff Hendrick
Unlike Greg Cunningham, Hendricks's international career has gone from strength to strength. He made his debut in that game at the Aviva Stadium in February 2013, and has amassed nine caps so far. His place in the Ireland squad seems assured, but he withdrew through injury for this game.
Conor Sammon
Conor Sammon also made his international debut against Poland. Sammon was a fixture in Ireland squads for the following year before he started to fall out of favour at Derby.
His last international sighting was against Austria as Ireland's qualifying hopes for the 2014 World Cup ended. A loan move to Rotherham last January looks to have reignited his goal scoring abilities.
Sean St. Ledger and Paul Green
The pair were favourites under Giovanni Trapattoni. Both started out in Martin O'Neill's squads but like Sammon hasn't been seen on the international stage since late 2013.
For Green, injury derailed him after a move to Leeds, and he struggled to get back into the team after that. A loan move to Ipswich didn't work out, and he was released by Leeds last summer. He now plays for Rotherham in the Championship.
Things haven't been better for St. Ledger. The 30 year old has had two years to forget. A loan move to Millwall in 2013 didn't ignite his career, and he only played twice for Leicester on his return. A short term deal at Ispwich didn't work out, and he now finds himself playing for Orlando City in the MLS.
