This has to be one of the biggest blunders in international football.
El Salvador played Argentina in an international friendly in Washington DC on Saturday. Argentina ended up winning the game 2-0 in freezing conditions thanks to goals from Ever Banega and Federico Mancuello as the Argentinians were without Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero, but put out a strong team that included Angel di Maria, Carlos Tevez and Gonzalo Higuain.
The most notable part of that game however, was at the national anthems. You generally expect the correct national anthems to be played.
Yet, for whatever reason, perhaps the neutral aspect of the game that was being played in Washington DC, the wrong anthem was played for El Salvador.
And it's quite an angry reaction from the players and sizeable crowd in attendance. That's quite a big mistake for a city that is home to over 100,000 Salvadorian immigrants.
