Barring a final day disaster, Ipswich are in the Championship playoffs with the possibility of an intriguing two-leg battle between them and East Anglia rivals Norwich on the cards.
Mick McCarthy's team beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 yesterday. The first goal was textbook route one football. Daryl Murphy flicked on a long ball to Freddie Sears who touched it back to the Waterford man and he then smashed it past Karl Darlow in the Forest goal.
Ipswich overcame the concession of a comical own goal equaliser when Sears and Murphy combined once again for the winner. It was Sears this time who hit the back of the net.
