Player/managers are an all too rare breed these days. Gone are the days when a manager, fed up with his team's performance would pull himself from the bench in anger to try to rescue the situation. Or maybe not.
Grays Athletic player/manager Mark Bentley brought himself on with his team 2-1 down to Hampton & Richmond, both of the Ryman League in the seventh level of the English footballing pyramid. Bentley pulled the score back to 2-2 with a glancing header from a corner.
Not content with that, he stuck himself in nets after Grays' starting keeper saw red. He, of course, saved the penalty before Grays went on to win 3-2 in the dying seconds.
