The game finishing 1-1, Goran Stavrevski's bullet header and automatic qualification hopes for Euro 2000 fading. That's what most people remember from Ireland's trip to Macedonia in October, 1999.

What has been forgotten though is that there was one minor Irish victory on that trip. That victory was won by a small group of Irish supporters over the Macedonia team. So boisterous was their support for the Boys in Green on the night before the game, the Macedonian team, who were staying in the same hotel, were forced to move so that they could get a night's sleep.

The triumph was reported by TV3 at the time.
