While there was a big furore around Roy Keane turning down the Celtic managerial job over the summer, it turns out club legend Henrik Larsson also decided against taking up the role.
Larsson – who left his post at Falkenbergs to become manager of Helsingborgs this week – told press that he felt he was not ready for the Celtic job when Dermot Desmond came knocking:
The owner of Celtic came here and the president too. I wanted to listen to Celtic. I think you should always listen.
But in the end, I decided to stay at Falkenberg. I did not feel ready for Celtic. Clearly it was difficult for me. Of course it was a tough decision, but it was all about timing.
Surely, one would imagine, he will be Celtic manager at some stage in the not too distant future?
