The whole internet seems to be enthralled by the 'blue and black or white and gold dress?' debate, which really confuses me given that it's quite clearly blue and black but anyhow...

On the topic of colours, we thought we'd use this opportunity to pay tribute to another piece of clothing that hasn't garnered enough attention; Ireland's orange away kit, circa 1996-98.

The orange jersey didn't bring with it many great days - never forget Macedonia in 1996 - but looking back on it, there were some happy times too.

It represented hope

It represented despair

It represented the peak of Jon Goodman's career

And peak hair for Stephen Carr

Gary Breen looked positively elegant in it

As did Rory Delap

It was a shirt that could be worn by all ... the youngsters....

And even their auld uncles...

The fact you could fit 6 players in one top was a great benefit

A cult shirt for cult heroes

And a shirt for hard men too
