Less than two months ago, news came through that Richard Dunne had more than likely played his last Premier League game. The Irish centre half had been ruled out until the end of the season with a medial ligament injury and things looked bleak.

Given that QPR have been less than impressive in the league this season, particularly at the back, it was looking very unlikely that Dunne would have another crack at top flight football next season. However, this is Richard Dunne we're talking about so he was never likely to go down without a fight.

QPR manager Chris Ramsey today confirmed that Dunne, as well as midfielder Leroy Fer could be back from injury within a week.

We're hoping that within the next one to two weeks, one of them or maybe both of them will be ready for consideration.

With QPR four points from safety and on a dire run of form, Ramsey will likely be pleased to have Dunne to call upon for the first time since he took over as manager. One way or another we're delighted that Dunne will more than likely be given one last hurrah at the top level. His career to date definitely deserves it.
