You may have seen the scurry of controversy this week when the Sun's political editor Tom Newton Dunn was trotted on to Sky News to display some good old fashioned ignorance by calling Peamount United 'some bog-trotting side in Ireland somewhere'.
Sky News apologised for the remark but the journalist in question remained quiet on the issue, but perhaps now he will get a chance to have another say.
Now, if it were us, we'd leave him to fester in his own little world but it seems Peamount United are just better people than we are. According to the Herald, the Dublin club have written to Dunn to invite him to see if he can break out of London and venture over here to take a look around the club.
"We'd love to have him over to have a look around our grounds and facilities", said Michael Spillane, chairman of Peamount United. Spillane was speaking for the club's committee in saying that they believed Dunn was trying to heap added praise on Roche's goal but that his use of 'bog-trotting' was unfortunate. We'll have to wait and see if Dunn chooses to accept the invite.
