Kevin Kilbane has been at the end of abuse from internet trolls after making a complaint to the FA over chants from West Ham fans. The former Ireland international made the complaint after Hammers fans chanted ‘Harry Kane talks like a mong and plays like one too’. Kilbane's ten-year old daughter has Down's Syndrome, with the word mong a derogatory term used for people with learning difficulties.
Kilbane was subjected to a large number of tweets over his stance, while some simply display an outstanding level of ignorance, others are more vitriolic. (These are a selection of the tweets, as you can imagine, there were worse examples)
@WestHamFan3 it is comparable with racism. Any chants of a discriminating manner are unacceptable. Please don't call me that..
