Vera Pauw has named her 23-player Ireland squad for the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The tournament will be Ireland's first ever time at a major international women's finals.
The group which will travel to Australia was trimmed from a 31-player Ireland squad which had spent the month at a training camp in Dublin.
Some notable players to miss out on the 23 include Aoife Mannion, Megan Campbell, Leanne Kiernan and Jamie Finn. Injury has played a part in the exclusions of Mannion, Campbell and Kiernan.
Manchester United defender Mannion made her debut against China in February after declaring for Ireland through her father from Galway and her mother from Mayo. Cavan native Kiernan missed the majority of the season with Liverpool due to an ankle injury. Campbell, whose long throws have proved to be an effective weapon for Ireland, also struggled with injury this season.
Finn, who started big games for Ireland in the qualifying campaign, is among three standby players who will travel to Australia along with Harriet Scott and goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse.
The Ireland squad selection is subject to change should any injuries occur in advance of the FIFA deadline on July 10.
The three standby players will also accompany the squad for the duration of the World Cup but will not be eligible for selection after the FIFA deadline.
