Louis Van Gaal is a divisive figure to say the least.
The general consensus seems to be that former players who have worked under the fiery Dutchman either love him or hate him, and it's very clear which side Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov is on in that regard.
Speaking in an interview wtih L'Equipe, Stoichkov referred to Van Gaal as "scum" and explained that he was the sole reason for his departure from Barcelona:
I have no respect for him, he’s scum. One day, when I was injured, I was with my wife at Camp Nou and Van Gaal went up to her. He asked her how it was possible that she married someone like me. She responded that I was a Ballon d’Or winner. My departure in 1998 was the fault of Van Gaal, for sure.
He didn't mince his words there, and fair play to his wife for that response.
By the way if you've got five minutes spare you could do a lot worse than spending them watching Stoichkov's top 10 goals.
