Being one of the most prolific goalscorers in the English leagues attracts attention. Irishman Eoin Doyle has a whole host of clubs chasing his services, with more being added to the long list every day. With 25 goals scored by the end of January, it's not hard to see why.
Today however, the prospect of Frank Lampard being the one supplying him with the chance to score goals has increased. New York City FC are said to be interested in securing Doyle. It's a complicated deal given the financial restrictions in America, but the Irish Independent claim that the deal is most definitely on.
New York City have made an offer, but it is said that they will need to increase it by nearly 50% to get their target. That means however, that they will have to reduce the contract offer to Doyle should the bid be accepted. Americans and their financial rules eh?
One potential roadblock to this is another South American striker, who New York are said to be tracking and would be available on a free transfer. Whatever happens, the prospect of Eoin Doyle lining up alongside David Villa and Frank Lampard is certainly an interesting one.
Here's a quick example of what New York are looking at. This goal against Doncaster yesterday brought Doyle to 21 league goals for the season.
